While this was not a sponsored post and we did not get paid for attending nor writing about our experience… I am a proud McCafe Mom member. We appreciate working with the Ronald McDonald House Charity and McDonald’s.

So what is a pop up event at McDonald’s? Well in early July, McDonald’s & our friend Jennifer Auer of Jersey Family Fun organized a yoga class and lunch in Somers Point, NJ. This event was free for the public and participants joined Ronald McDonald at McDonald’s and then walked next door for the yoga class. Yoga was instructed by Hummingbird Yoga, which is based out of Linwood, NJ.

All attendants were treated to McDonald’s Asian Chicken Salad. With a focus on fresh ingredients and nutrition, the Asian Chicken Salad is packed with crisp kale, romaine and 20150709_103107_resizedbaby spinach, mixed with red bell peppers, edamame, snow peas and mandarin oranges, topped with almonds and a Sesame Ginger low-fat dressing.  Now, I will say I found the dressing to have a little bite to it… not bad but as I am a complete spicy-wimp… I will opt for a low-fat vinaigrette going forward.20150709_102807_resized

As a parent, I found that the oranges in the Asian Salad appeal to my daughter, who naturally enjoys salads as much as I do. I’m so proud to hear my little one order a salad when we visit McDonald’s. And let’s not be silly… of course we get the fries!!

Teaching our children about healthful options and moderation is what it is all about. Indulgences are wonderful but they are meant to be experiences set apart from the everyday choices we make.
